Sunday School Calendar for 2008/2009

September 14 - Fall Rally Day
We will begin at 9:30 am with our Opening Assembly, then we will have some goodies to eat from 9:45 to 10:00 am. From 10:00 to 10:45, the Adult Classes will meet as usual (The Jordan Wisseman Class to the Parlor for this Sunday, the Rowland Class in their room, and the Smith Class in their room). Our children will have the chance to paint our Tent of Hope outside, with the help of volunteers. Their parents will have a meeting in the Fellowship Hall. During Fellowship Hour we will present our fall programs, Christian Education as well as other programs, with displays and information. Join us as we officially kick off Fall at CUCC
September 21 - First Day of Sunday School
November 30 - Thanksgiving Weekend - No Sunday School
April 12 - Easter – No Sunday School
May 31 - Last Day of Sunday School

Sunday Morning Schedule

9:30 - Opening Assembly for all Sunday School Classes
10:00 - Preschool, Children, Youth, and Smith Class - Lower-Level Classrooms

Nursery

The nursery provides childcare for children younger than 3 during Sunday School, and for children up to age 6 during Worship. It is staffed by Regina Hayes and two adult volunteers. The nursery is also open during special church events.

Children

Children’s classes meet during the regular school year, breaking for summer vacation. These classes are organized by age:

Preschool
Preschool offers a fun, loving, and welcoming environment for children age 3 through 5.

Children
The Children's class features Bible lessons in a fun setting for grades 1 through 3.

Youth Class
The Youth Class, for children grades 5 through 12, enhances the Worship experience for pre-teens and teens, and engages them in the ministry of the church at Congregational, in the Greensboro area, and in the wider world.

Adult Sunday School

In addition to classes for children, Congregational United Church of Christ offers a variety of learning opportunities for adults:

Smith Class
Bible study based on the weekly readings used in Worship.

Jordan/Wisseman and Rowland
A year-round senior adult classes that use the International lesson series.

Additional Programs

In addition to Sunday Morning programs, Congregational provides other enrichment programs:

Supper Study on Wednesday evenings throughout the school year.

Annual church retreat each Fall in Blowing Rock, NC.

Covenant groups meet regularly to explore and discuss issues related to a central theme.

Study groups meet on an ad-hoc basis to discuss spiritual or moral topics.
